Visa and formation pages are the product. A migration that leaves the form on the old IP is not a successful move. Staging has to submit once for real.
iqbaltyping.comI copy the live site to new hosting, test it on staging, then switch DNS so pages, media, forms and mail still work. If the old developer already emptied the folder, that is restore. If you only need a name and a fresh inbox, that is domain, hosting and email.
UAE sites get moved because the box is slow, the invoice bounced, PHP is too old, or the last freelancer vanished with the panel. Migration means: a working live site, a destination you own, files and database copied together, enquiry path tested, then DNS. I keep the old host until the new one holds.
A plugin white-screen after a botched move is often rollback, then a clean copy — the same discipline as maintenance. Spam pages or a Google warning is malware first. I will not migrate an infected site onto a nicer server and call it done.
Host chat that “migrated you” often means a file dump, a broken wp-config, and mail still pointing at the dead box.
PHP version, database, cron, CDN, mail on the same server, SSL issuer. A catalogue without uploads is not a migrated store.
Same rule as domain and hosting. A move into my account is a second hostage.
WordPress without the SQL dump is a theme with no posts. Search-replace on staging, not on live with a prayer.
WhatsApp, RTL, forms, admin login. Desktop-only QA is how UAE leads die after cut-over.
A 24-hour TTL is why “zero downtime” is a lie. I say the window. HTTPS on the new box before we celebrate.
MX, SPF, DKIM. If invoices still hit the old host, you migrated the brochure and broke the office.
New slugs without 301s is an SEO incident. That job is redesign, quoted as such.
Rollback is a DNS flip, not a panic rebuild. Then care so the next PHP update is not a second move.
Destination hosts love a “migrate for free” button. It copies files. It often misses cron, mail, object storage and the fact that siteurl still points at the old IP. A vendor who uses the move to launch a new theme is selling development under panic pricing.
I copy what works, test it, then switch. If the stack is too rotten to move, I will say rebuild — not “migration++”.
| Practice | Host “free migrator” | Rebuild sold as transfer | ITZ migration |
|---|---|---|---|
| What they copy | Files, maybe a database | A new theme, old copy as moodboard | Files + database + media + cron if it exists |
| Where they test | Often straight onto live DNS | A staging they never show you | Staging or hosts-file, phone QA, then DNS |
| Left on the old box | Ignored until invoices bounce | MX planned as its own cut-over | |
| SEO | Hope the same URLs came across | New slugs, weak 301s | Same URLs unless you asked for a redesign |
| Rollback | Old host already cancelled | No copy of the old live site | Old host kept until the new one holds |
| Who owns the new panel | Sometimes still the host’s ticket | The new vendor’s account | Yours — you log in before we close |
| Public 2026 ads (research) | Bundled with a monthly plan | Folded into a website quote | Quoted after I see the live stack |
Public 2026 UAE ads for a WordPress host move often sit around AED 500–3,000 depending on size and mail; rebuilds are website money, not migration money. Research, not ITZ list prices. 5% UAE VAT applies unless the quote is marked inclusive.
I did not migrate these as a theatre case study. They are production businesses. If the catalogue, the form or the .ae goes dark for a day, that is the cost of switching nameservers before staging is signed off.

Uploads are the catalogue. A migrator that skips wp-content/uploads is a site of broken products. Media is on the checklist, not assumed.

B2B trust · Dubai
Procurement hits a phone. Mixed content or a stale SSL after cut-over is “Not secure” on the first visit. HTTPS is part of the move.

PDFs and service URLs have to come across. A pretty new host with empty document links is a failed migration you will notice in a tender.

Maps still lists the old URL while DNS is half-flipped. NAP has to match after cut-over. That is why we do not cancel the old host the same morning.
dubaisro.comWordPress on shared hosting is the usual UAE job: zip the files, dump the database, search-replace, php.ini, permalinks. Custom HTML is simpler until someone left mail and a booking script on the old box. Builders that will not export are not a migration. They are a redesign.
I will name the destination: managed WordPress, Cloudways-style, a small VPS. I will also name when the old PHP is too far gone and a move without a patch is how you buy a white screen. That patch is maintenance, quoted beside the move.
I re-test login, media, Arabic RTL if you had it, robots, and the live form. Search Console stays on the same property. If URLs had to change, we map 301s — the same caution as a redesign. Then we write down the new panel, and we do not cancel the old invoice until a quiet day has passed.
Use the launch checklist as a punch-list even on a move. Speed often improves because the new host is the actual upgrade. That is a bonus, not a PageSpeed guarantee.
Live URL, host, mail, DNS, backups. Restore vs migrate vs rebuild named in writing.
New host in your name. Plan that fits the stack. SSL ready.
Files and database to staging. Search-replace. Uploads checked.
Phone QA: pages, admin, forms, WhatsApp, RTL. Then we pick a cut-over window.
TTL, DNS, SSL, MX if mail moves. Old host stays up.
| Check | Why it is on the list |
|---|---|
| Staging signed off on a phone | Desktop-only QA is how WhatsApp and RTL bugs ship after DNS. |
| Admin login on the new box | A pretty front-end with a broken wp-admin is a site you cannot edit. |
| Media and uploads present | File copy without uploads is a hollow catalogue. |
| Forms and WhatsApp tested live | A migrated button that still posts to the old IP is not an enquiry path. |
| SSL and mixed content | Cut-over week is when “Not secure” still happens. |
| Mail still arrives | MX left on the cancelled host is a silent outage. |
| Old host not cancelled yet | Rollback is a DNS flip. Deleting the source is how you buy restore. |
| You can log into the new panel | Ownership is a login, not a ticket number. |
I do not sell “zero downtime guaranteed”. If the site is already empty, that is restore. If the builder will not export, that is a build.
Live URL and access. Whether this is a host move, malware, restore, or a rebuild.
The usual job: copy, staging, DNS, SSL, mail plan. Old host kept until it holds.
No export, no copy, or a failed move that wiped live. That is development, redesign or restore.
Malware is not a pricing tier here — start on malware removal. New names and inboxes sit under domain, hosting and email.
Only true if TTL is already low, staging is signed off and mail is planned. Otherwise it is a slogan. I will say the real window.
A new theme during a host move is two jobs. I prefer move first. Redesign is the other page.
I did not use them as theatre. They are examples of live UAE sites you cannot leave on a half-flipped DNS.
Rollback needs the source. Deleting it the same morning is how this becomes restore.
No Friday-night nameserver surprise, no cancelled old host, no infected site copied onto a nicer box. WhatsApp the live URL and which host you want to leave.
